Renault Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

NOTE: The UCH (Universal Car Harness) is an electronic control module that is fitted to many late model Renaults (early 2000's onwards.) It is responsible for controlling many of the non-engine related functions of the car.

Each tyre on a TPMS enabled Renault has a valve with a built in pressure sensor. Each sensor has a unique code and is matched to a particular wheel. The valve transmits it's program code, status and pressure to the UCH via RF (radio frequency).
When the car is moving (15mph+), the valves transmit this signal every 15 minutes if no leak is present and every 10 seconds if a leak is present.
With the car stationary, the valves issue this information every hour if no air leak is present and every 15 minutes if an air leak is present.

To force a valve to transmit it's code either use a valve exciter or deflate the tyre. The tyre pressure has to be dropped by at least 1 bar. This will raise the wheel to status 2 on the parameter menu. With the car stationary it will take 15 minutes for the valve to transmit. With the vehicle moving at 15mph+ it will take 10 seconds for the valve to transmit.

NOTE: This can only be done one wheel at a time, reinflating the wheel after collecting it's code then repeat the process for each wheel in turn.

Each valve has a coloured identifier ring attached to the valve nut:

Front Left – Green
Front Right – Yellow
Rear Left – Red
Rear Right – Black
