There was new confidence from Asian car manufacturers this week as Toyota showcased their new Corolla Furia at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Reports are showing that they are the world’s top seller after a difficult few years saw recession and even a Chinese boycott of their brand caused by political tensions between Japan and China.

Despite these problems, Toyota are hugely encouraged by exciting new prospects centring on new products and technologies.

However, now is not the time to rest easy. Competitors such as Hyundai have benefitted from Toyota’s problems with the Chinese market, so competition is still stiff and there is some catching up to do.

Nevertheless the outlook is promising for this giant of car manufacturing. Could 2013 be Toyota’s year?
